Praxis Content Area Exam

SLPs are required to take and pass either the Praxis #5331 (ASHA recognized exam for CCC) or Praxis #5881 (SLPs who hold only a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology)

Test Exception: An individual applying for an endorsement in speech and language impairments and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators

Educators (includes SLPs) who hold a bachelors’ degree only must take and pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills For Educators

Please note: Bachelor’s level SLPs graduating from NSC take the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators as part of their education requirements

Test Exception: Educators (includes SLPs) who hold a masters’ degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university and has taken the GRE and received a score at or above mid-point

Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT)

Test Exception: An applicant for licensure who meets one of the following requirements will not be required to pass the Principles of Learning and Teaching test:

Has applied for a license in one of the following areas: school counselor, school psychologist, school nurse, school social worker, speech and language impairments, business and industry, early childhood, early childhood developmentally delayed, or elementary
